Great Place to Work® has designated the 1st November as Certification Nation Day to honour and acknowledge companies working to create great places to work for all.

Managing Director of the CPL Group, Darren Lowe, said: The CPL Group is proud to be part of Certification Nation Day alongside so many other amazing organisations. In 2023 we were Great Place to Work-Certified™ for the 3rd year running and named as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Women for a second time! Both these awards help to support our vision to be the procurement services partner of choice for the education sector and we are delighted to be taking part in Certification Nation Day, because it’s an opportunity to recognise it’s our colleagues at CPL that help to make the fantastic culture that we have here. We will continue to listen to them and build on these successes as we go forward as an organisation.”

Great Place To Work® is the global authority on workplace culture, recognised worldwide by employees and employers alike for identifying outstanding employee experiences.

“Great Place to Work Certification is a major competitive advantage in the market for talent. By celebrating Certification, companies are enhancing their employer brand and becoming more attractive to potential candidates, making it easier to recruit and retain top talent” says Benedict Gautrey Managing Director of Great Place to Work UK.

“It’s no secret that the companies with Certified status are continuously putting their employees first” says Claire Knights, Director of Growth & Recognition at Great Place to Work UK. “Certification Nation Day is the perfect opportunity for our Certified companies to celebrate what makes their company great and build upon their employee-first cultures.”

One of the things that makes the CPL Group a unique and special place to work, is that through their everyday work, colleagues are in fact helping to give back to the education sector, as the CPL Group reinvest any excess surpluses back into the sector through their “Giving Back” charity initiative, which you can read more about here.

In the last year, the Group has continued to build its culture in a number of different ways, a few examples include:

  • Summer Volunteering Days - where CPL teams helped support a wide range of different projects, from volunteering at a community centre for people affected by homelessness, volunteering at an animal sanctuary, and helping Manchester City Council and volunteers at Ladybarn Park in South Manchester.
  • Annual Staff Awards – to help recognise and celebrate our fantastic colleagues over the course of the year.
  • A dedicated Intranet platform – that acts not only as a communications resource but as a social hub to increase collaboration and connectivity.

According to Great Place to Work research, job seekers are 4.5 times more likely to find a great boss at a Certified great workplace. Additionally, employees at Certified workplaces are 93% more likely to look forward to coming to work, and are twice as likely to be paid fairly, earn a fair share of the company’s profits, and have a fair chance at promotion.
