This module considers the main techniques for supplier development to improve supply chains. As well as considering the value of the right supplier relationships, it also covers technology developments that can be used.

 

Creating a sourcing or category plan

This module considers how to create a sourcing plan for a strategic sourcing or category management process. It considers evaluating the data, interpreting the requirements, assessing the supply market and identifying opportunities and prioritising them.

 

Fundamentals of specifications and key performance indicators

This module considers the use of specifications when procuring products and services and how key performance indicators can be used to define and manage contractual performance.

 

Implementation planning

This module introduces you to the process for developing an implementation plan for strategic sourcing and/or category management. It includes the benefits of using a plan, a comparison of the different routes to market, decision criteria and obtaining stakeholder buy-in to the strategy.

 

Market forces that impact on procurement and supply

It is integral for procurement to understand the status of the supply market. Learners will understand the impact of supply chain forces upon procurement markets.

 

Preparing to source from external suppliers

This module considers how a plan for sourcing goods or services from an external supplier can be developed. It also considers how the financial stability of potential suppliers can be assessed.

This module introduces you to the main processes involved in sourcing, including market analysis. It considers how quotations and tenders should be obtained and evaluated, as well as looking at the contribution that electronic systems can make to assist sourcing.

This module considers the main sources of information on suppliers and customers, including how internet and other technologies have changed the way that procurement functions.

This module introduces the sourcing process and examines its role in the Purchasing function. Areas covered include the identification and selection of suitable suppliers, assessment criteria and contract management.

This module introduces you to the concept of outsourcing, the implications of the ‘make or buy’ decision and how to develop a successful outsourcing process.
